Living Life Data
DemoEvery number on this site is fictional. Nothing has been collected from anyone. This is a working model of what the site and app will show.

The map

What the people on the map are doing

Fixed, reviewed snapshots of the whole cohort. Nothing here is a live query, and nothing identifies a person. Each view lists its definition and the date the data runs through.

The seasonal curve

Median daily steps by month, by broad region. Contributors choose their region; no location is collected. Winter is visible everywhere; how deep it cuts depends on where you live.

Median daily steps by month

Demo data
Same vertical scale in every panel so regions compare directly. Peak month labeled.

The resolution decay

Every January the map rises. This chart shows how many weeks the rise lasts. Whole cohort, indexed so the first week of the year equals 100.

Weekly steps, first 14 weeks of the year

Demo data
Index of the cohort's median daily steps, week by week. Weather and daylight also move this line; the Methods page explains what is and is not separated out.

By age group

Medians with the middle half of contributors shown as the lighter band. Age is self-reported in completed years and grouped before release. These are the people currently in each bracket, not a forecast.

Daily steps by age group

Demo data
MedianMiddle half (25th to 75th percentile)

Resting heart rate by age group

Demo data
MedianMiddle half
Resting heart rate needs a watch and is optional, so this cell is smaller than the steps cell. A daily mean of device estimates, not a clinical measurement.

Not yet released

Views the map will show once enough people are in each cell: weather coupling (movement against temperature, precipitation and smoke by region), daylight-saving transitions, and within-person change over years. Each appears when every cell it needs has at least 50 contributors. Until then the space stays empty rather than showing something unsafe.
